If you are receiving an eligible domestic Yu-Pack, Japan Post offers a way to change the delivery date or time before the first attempt through its delivery notification. The request must be made by 3:00 a.m. on the initial scheduled delivery day, and you cannot move delivery to a date earlier than that initial date. If you are the sender, Japan Post directs you instead to contact the post office responsible for delivery. An accepted request is still subject to the parcel’s status and route conditions. Japan Post’s change page, sender and recipient FAQ.

This is official-source desk research, not a tested change request. It concerns eligible domestic Yu-Pack parcels already sent, not delivery-date-specified letters or a guaranteed appointment.

The sender and recipient have different routes

For the recipient, Japan Post’s e-Delivery Notification can provide a link in an email or a notification in the Japan Post app. In the email route, open the URL in the notice, choose the home delivery option, select an offered date or time and submit. In the app, open the parcel details from the push notification or parcel notice and choose the control for changing delivery date or place. The page calls the app action 「配送日時・場所を変更する」. Only dates and times offered for that parcel are requestable there. Japan Post: recipient steps.

For the sender, the FAQ says to contact the office that handles delivery of the Yu-Pack. A sender should not assume that the recipient’s notification link is the route available to them. Have the tracking number and destination details ready when finding the delivery office, but do not publish those details in a public question. Japan Post: sender route.

Use the initial scheduled day to read the cutoff

Japan Post specifies 3:00 a.m. on the day of the first scheduled delivery, not 3:00 p.m., and says the new date cannot precede the first one. For a hypothetical parcel scheduled for Thursday, a recipient asking at 2:30 a.m. Thursday is still before the stated cutoff; at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, that pre-delivery route is outside it. The example only explains the clock. Japan Post can still reject a request because of the parcel’s delivery status or local processing time. Japan Post: timing and limits.

If you already have a missed-delivery slip, you are arranging redelivery after an attempt. Use the reference number and options on that slip instead of treating the pre-delivery cutoff as a new deadline. Our missed-delivery notice guide explains that separate task.

Check whether your Yu-Pack type is eligible

Japan Post’s change page lists ordinary prepaid, cash-on-delivery postage, Security, collection-on-delivery, Chilled, Braille/hearing and Weight Yu-Pack among types for which the date or time can be changed. It lists Ski, Golf and Airport Yu-Pack as ineligible for this particular change route. These names are service categories; a tracking number alone does not tell you that every change option is available. Japan Post: eligible types table.

If you need a chilled or perishable parcel on a particular day, Japan Post additionally warns that its holding limits may prevent the requested date. Severe weather and traffic may also prevent delivery at the desired time. Read the confirmation or rejection from the service instead of assuming a selected calendar cell is a promise. No notification or no usable option?

First check the item’s tracking status on Japan Post’s tracking page and whether you have an e-Delivery Notification for that parcel. The official e-Receipt Assist overview describes changes through the notice; merely knowing the tracking number is not described there as an automatic entitlement to every date. If the notification is missing or the requested slot is absent, contact the handling office and ask what is possible for that specific item. The official change page says delivery status, area and request time can affect acceptance.

For a hypothetical Thursday delivery of an ordinary Yu-Pack, a recipient who will be away all Thursday should check the notification on Wednesday and request an offered later slot before 3:00 a.m. Thursday. A sender discovering the conflict should contact the delivery office. An Airport Yu-Pack recipient should not rely on the same online change table. These three situations lead to different next steps even though all parcels have already been sent.
